Re: Bogus IRS calls

Same old con. The phone number identified as the source may be entirely faked or the result of multiple relays (such as in Three Days of the Condor); if you were to call it back there would considerable delays, lots of click-clack, and possibly a wait of longer than a full minute before someone pick...

Re: If I Can't Hire My Own Reporter, I Won't Show!

About the only hope the court reporter has of making ends meet is having a virtual monopoly on producing transcripts of the trial. Yes, they are costly. But if there is competition with price wars, the official reporters may simply quit altogether and leave the participants to hire their own indepen...

Re: Random Freemanesque Babblings from idiots unable to sustain their own thread

Don't know about this Australian guy but this easily sounds like it could have happened in the US. The law in the US (such as the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure 11) provides that, if a defendant fails or refuses to enter a recognizable plea (there are only three in federal law: Guilty, Not Guil...

Re: If I Can't Hire My Own Reporter, I Won't Show!

There is no constitutional right to film or broadcast (or webcast) what happens inside a courtroom. Nixon v. Warner Communications Inc. Re: It sounds like baahhh, oink (Ernie Tertelgte)

I must admit that, from my point of view at the far end of the country, I have no particular insight into Ernie's credit rating or business activities. Perhaps someone in his neighborhood can give us a more informative report on him. I have no idea what Ernie is up to when he's not being a jackass. ...

Re: If I Can't Hire My Own Reporter, I Won't Show!

The US Supreme Court determined several years ago that a court has a right (and duty) to protect its decorum and the reliability of its record by exercising the discretion to deny filming/broadcasting or independent taping of court proceedings. It could get nasty and ugly if unscrupulous people star...

Re: It sounds like baahhh, oink (Ernie Tertelgte)

In some of the courts in that part of Montana the judges are non-lawyer appointed to handle small claims and traffic courts, so I wonder if they are aware of the flaws in Ernie's arguments or in Ernie's track record. Altho Ernie has gone to jail, it is not clear if he is paying his fines or if he is...

Re: It sounds like baahhh, oink (Ernie Tertelgte)

According to the video, Ernie has already been in jail ten times. Evidently he likes the food, or the swinging singles scene, or something because he seems determined to go back. Altho his adherents paint him as a sort of hermit living in the trees, he has a fairly large family, a farm worth more th...

Re: It sounds like baahhh, oink (Ernie Tertelgte)

Ernie's argument that the driver license laws don'tapply to noncommercial driving have been rejected by every court that has heard them (and, by implication, the US Supreme Court), including the Montana courts: State v. Skurdal (1988) 235 Mont 291, 767 P2d 304; https://scholar.google.com/scholar_cas...

There was an instance, about 20 years ago, when Scientology sued the pants off an anti-cult organization to the point where the organization just surrendered and let Scientology take over its over name and files, whereupon the organization, operating under the same name and not announcing the change...

Re: I know its a scam, but what exactly is the scam?

Since I am in the USA and this is a Brit scam, I am not conversant with all of its details. But in the US, a director of a corporation does bear considerable legal responsibility ... for example, if the corporation is sold with fraudulent claims, the directors at the time of its sale become legally ...

Evidently Boisjoli is the first Canadian to be officially (?) identified as a "paper terrorist". He has already been branded a vexatious litigant, and he certainly is a few marbles short his quota. He accuses the various public officials handling his case of being psychopaths. http://globa...

John Oliver, Last Week Tonight: MLM Pyramids

The HBO comedy news show by John Oliver, LAST WEEK TONIGHT, devoted most of its Nov. 6th, 2016 program to MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) and how it is pyramid scam in disguise (very thin disguise - at least two of the operators openly refer to their schemes as pyramids). If each sucker is supposed to r...

Re: Jesinoski v. Countrywide Home Loans, Inc.

The vapor money argument is distinct from the wet ink argument; they can be made separately and while the vapor money argument was never valid there was a time when the wet ink argument had some merit. The vapor money argument is that, in lending the money, the bank or mortgage company did not put a...

Re: First fraudulent call of the the year....

At one point, several years ago, these con-artists stumbled on the teletype devices used by the deaf (TTYs or TDDs) to communicate over telephone lines and were making TTY calls to deaf people, saying they were IRS and demanding money, etc. and managed to scoop up considerable money. This was, as fa...

Re: Shrout, Winston

With ref to Winston Shrout's nonsense on the videotape: Shrout claims to have worldwide immunity as some sort of functionary of "The Office of International Treasury Control". This is a scam operating out of (I think) Thailand, pretending to be connected to the UN, which is most assuredly ...
