Re: Mass Arrests Confirmed to be Underway

If troops are wearing a NATO uniform, they are fair game. If wearing a Russian or Chinese uniform, protect them. Well, the mass arrests are now foiled. We simply issued Chinese/Russian uniforms to the NATO troops, as well as to the people on the arrest lists. I wasn't aware NATO had a separate unif...

Re: Hendrickson's Hero: financial & health status not good

As I recall, the crux of the argument proposed by many of these scammers regarding bank loans is that they somehow don't have to pay their bank loans, because the loans don't involve "real" money -- just as these same scammers argue that Federal Reserve notes aren't "real" money...

Re: Adoption

Please look back up to my first post in the thread for my state's definition of special needs. Florida does include age 8 or older, member of a sibling group being placed for adoption together, and African American or racially mixed as well as significant emotional ties with foster parents or a rel...

Re: 1031

Subject to various rules, in the USA, the first $250,000 of gain on the sale of a principal residence is tax free ($500,000 of gain on a "married filing jointly" return). This rule generally applies where the residence was used as the principal residence for periods aggregating two or mor...

Re: 1031

Even over a 35 year period, that is an astonishing increase in value. That would be pretty rare in most places in the USA. Welcome to the wild world of Vancouver real estate. A friend of mine bought a house on the west side of Vancouver at about the same time as I did for about $10,000 more than mi...

Re: Adoption

The boys were healthy newborns but were considered special needs because they were mixed-race. Our social services has a mandate to match mixed-race children with equivalent mixed-raced parents if at all possible and my wife and I are a mixed-race couple that matched the boys' racial profile almost...

Re: Adoption

So I see that the adoption landscape hasn't changed in the last 25 years. You still have to jump through fiery hoops and brave minefields just to be considered, then after spending substantial emotional and financial capital you can still get wiped out on a whim. It's just unfair that any two piece...

Also, don't forget to get an adopor kit - mainly because you (being older) are likely in English units, while the baby (being new) is likely one of them newfangled metric babies. Do you even know your metrics? :snooty: Canada changed to metric leaving us befuddled old-timers stranded. My...

"I transact in bitcoin, gold, lawful money, and silver (BrandyBuck can vouch for that)." Is this the same BrandyBuck who used to post here until he left in a snit over a religious affront (criticism of the Godhead Ron Paul)? If so what is he doing at Lost Horizon? I thought he was just a ...

Re: 1031

This points out a BIG difference between Canadian and US tax law. In Canada the sale of personal residences is tax free. A huge plus here in Vancouver where I bought my house for about $70,000 over 35 years ago and it is now worth close to a million. The downside, if you want to call it that, is tha...

Look on the bright side. You've been complaining how quiet and boring the tax protester scene has been lately. This might give it a kick-start.

Re: Adoption

Wife and I adopted twins almost 30 years ago. Canada does it somewhat differently, no idea what is involved in your adoption agencies process, here it is all done through the provincial government. Also, no fees. They charged us $50 for some registration fee when we got the boys and that was it. How...

Their poor financial decisions shouldn't be my problem right now.

Right now? Why at anytime? If they had made good financial decisions they wouldn't be sharing it with you and their voricious demands at your husband's death wouldn't have changed any.

Yes "rumour". You lazy Americans have some problem hitting "u" on your keyboards with your pudgy fingers and so you get color, rumor, favor, honor, harbor, it goes on and on. Always cutting corners. We virile athletic Canadians add all kinds of unnecessary letters (see "prog...

Re: Erasmus of America

"The Prisoner" was not a drama, it was a fantasy, and one that doesn't pass the test of time. The last episode was supposed to be enigmatic and provocative, it was instead an incomprehensible "everything but the kitchen sink" mess. I tried to visit the actual village in Portmeiri...

I just can't fathom why you are all so skeptical. A man who knows that watering the garden will make it grow obviously has access to vast realms of incredibly valuable secret information not available to ordinary schubs like us.

Reference notes on Erasmus of America. Only one man in America has the Vatican endorsed trade secret food process that will decide for all mankind on earth whether the human race will live or else die on earth by apparently fast coming biological collapse of the human race if their diet is not corr...
