Re: "The Verdict"

Here is a list of significant US courtroom trial movies: http://www.listal.com/list/trial-movies

And as pointed out real life is far less entertaining than fictional drama or movies based loosely on fact. Hail Mary witnesses are probably as rare as getting hit by a meteor.

Re: Antonin Scalia Dead

A huge shock in so many ways to the US power structure. Plus he had a large family, he was much appreciated by every one who knew him though they may have disagreed with his decisions. I wish the best for his family during this time of grief.

It took a lot of humility to post about this here. Hopefully the experts will follow the Hippocratic oath.

"The Verdict"

The Turner movie channel ran "The Verdict" recently. Great movie, Jack Warden was the strongest performance IMO, among the many strong actors in it. There are not many movies featuring trials like this. Have any lawyers on this forum seen theatrics as both lawyers and the judge engaged in?...

Re: They're gonna get my head right...

Definitely go for the alternate opinions, never panic or rush into anything unless absolutely necessary. Whether it's health and well being, taxes, vehicles, investing and assets--always get alternate judgments and with serious issues look at case studies as lawyers do with legal cases. There are al...

Re: Erroneous Congressman's Letter or Erroneous Interpretation?

So probably the Congressman was making an erroneous assertion, this was the letter I saw cited originally, a google turned up Peymon's site and Hendrickson's: http://www.goldismoney2.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=79135&d=1448675642 Multiply the number of Congress members and the number of year...

Erroneous Congressman's Letter or Erroneous Interpretation?

I was following a discussion of this letter on an online forum: http://www.losthorizons.com/comment/noticeoflevy.htm

So is this letter accurate or is the interpretation off from what I have seen people on forums assume? Thanks.

Top Historical Tax Rates in US

I've been hearing a lot from politicians claiming that the top US tax rate was over 90% during the 1950s, which is not really true. Too bad Snopes didn't rebut that, but maybe taxes aren't their thing? https://mises.org/library/good-ol-days- ... 90-percent

Re: Vehicle flipping and tax evasion

Actually the problems developed within months, but there is no recourse according to the guy quoted with private vehicle sales. My guess is that he plays that game and is worried of exposure. And the buying and selling of vehicles in this state anyway is so lightly regulated as to be a joke.

It seems that the former laid back and hippy types are finally waking up to the rip-off artists. http://i.imgur.com/B4MMsJl.jpg I got some flack bringing it up on a Subaru site: "That's called a title skip, and the state actually doesn't like that. They want the car flipper to title the car in ...

Vehicle flipping and tax evasion

Anything bought and sold can potentially be a venue for avoiding taxes. My current Subaru for example was bought for $1200 by some guys who do this, sold unbeknownst to me for $3000 after running some quick fix through the engine that later came undone. I did some research after the purchase where I...

Re: 12 Complaints Dismissed = Vexatious Litigant

There must be quite a few of these "vexatious" litigants around. I called a local guy who spends all his waking hours pestering local officials with FOIAs as he makes his cases a vexatious litigant and he got angry. Running for selectman he actually shakes up the usual complacency but has ...
