East Texas: Marriage or jail time

Post by webhick »

It's amusing to see judges rule this way on TV, not at all in real life:
Judge Rogers asked Bundy if he was married to Jaynes and then said, “You know, as a part of my probation, you’re going to have to marry her…within 30 days.”

If Bundy declined to do the probation, he would be sentenced to 15 days in jail.

“He offered me fifteen days in jail and that would have been fine and I asked if I could call my job [to let them know],” said Bundy. “The judge told me ‘nope, that’s not how this works.’”

Is this "judge" a law school graduate?

If the news report is accurate, I'm afraid this judge is going to be facing some disciplinary action.

And, yes, because he's a criminal court judge, he's a law school graduate (Texas Tech University Law School) and licensed as an attorney -- in his case, for over forty years.

It's been pretty hot here in Texas for a quite a while now. I wonder if he's been spending too much time in the sun without drinking enough water.

I just saw a post/petition on FB for people to sign to have him recalled.
