To be honest, I don't think Ms Waters meant any disrespect towards Canada.
Agree, I don't think so either. I was just being facetious about an absurd law and used her dilemma as a starting point. It was an obscure law that had virtually been forgotten but suddenly resurrected itself to sweep through your elected representatives faster than the salsa at the Taco Time restaurant in Dales, Oregon. We have never had an equivalent law.

I did think it an interesting point that, like Canada, you had no citizenship until fairly recently.
