I just PM'd myself to see if the option emailing me when "Someone sends you a private message" now works. No notification yet.

I don't think it works if you PM yourself. Also, make sure your Profile is set to receive PM's notifications by email:

I've always had the notification on and it always worked until it didn't. You're probably right about self-gratification. I haven't received an email announcement yet.

I seem to have to login every other time I visit. The only thing I've changed is AdBlockPlus. Any suggestions?

Make sure you've selected remember me when you sign in. My system deletes, or doesn't save, the cookie file every once in a while.
The fact that you sincerely and wholeheartedly believe that the “Law of Gravity” is unconstitutional and a violation of your sovereign rights, does not absolve you of adherence to it.

If it's only been happening the past week, try clearing all your board cookies (there's a link to do it at the bottom of the page).
