Mr. Wollersheim who was connected to the Scientology cult at one time and successfully sued it announced that he will be shutting down Factnet, an anti-cult site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Wollersheim

Apparently the hacks caused a lot of damage and policing the site took too much in resources.

Apparently, factnet is still there. I can't say it's the same site, as Scientology would have sued archive.net to remove alleged copyright violations from the archives, but it's still there.

There was an instance, about 20 years ago, when Scientology sued the pants off an anti-cult organization to the point where the organization just surrendered and let Scientology take over its over name and files, whereupon the organization, operating under the same name and not announcing the change of management, condemned every other cult but gave Scientology a clean bill of health.

I recently finished Lawrence Wright's 365 page book on the cult. It is astonishing it is still around--at one point less than 10 years ago the FBI was going to raid Miscavige and "gold base". https://www.villagevoice.com/2012/03/19 ... ard-of-it/ The Wikipedia article is quite tame no doubt due to the diligence of the cultists in threatening action if certain sections are not changed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_controversies It was pretty impressive that Wollersheim was able to collect on the lawsuit against them after pursuing them more than 20 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Wollersheim
