Nigerian scammers buying AdSense space?

Post by SteveJanke »

This is a new one for me. I run a blog and I noticed an AdSense advert for earning millions using AdWords without paying a dime. Right. So I checked into the domain and the owner, and I found sites registered to small town addresses in New York, Massachusetts, and Texas. Every phone number provided was not in service. I also discovered that the New York address was used in the registration of a fraudulent online bank in the United Kingdom. So I wrote up what I found (http://stevejanke.com/archives/229941.php) and forwarded the information to the hosting companies and to Google AdWords for their evaluation. Now it looks like one hosting company is taking action, and as a result, this person got in touch with me. Denied being part of scams, and gave me two other sites to check out besides the one registered in New York. One was registered in Massachusetts (same address as before, but a different, and still out-of-service, phone number) and the other domain was not even active, without registration information.

I explained that providing incorrect registration information is grounds for having a domain shut down. It'll be interesting to see where this goes. Check out the link to my research and let me know if this person has surfaced before.

Thanks Demosthenes. Google just emailed me. Sent the information to their specialists to evaluate and take action, if necessary.
