Tax Wisdom?

Post by Judge Roy Bean »

One Derrick B. Jackson, aka "Glenn Dent" dba Tax Wisdom and International Tax and Accounting Services has gotten himselves in trouble down in Georgia.

Seems he's been preparing taxes for folks and according to the case filing in the Northern District of Georgia (Atlanta) 1 09-CV-0937, between 2002 and 2004, he did 288, In 2005 there were 149 and in 2006 only 76. Some of those were under the Glenn Dent name - using a SSN from a person who died in 1977. He even used an EIN for a Jackson Hewitt office that he had no relationship with.

Among the 2006 returns he filed electronically, at least 50 had false W2 information and sixteen of the 2005 returns were even more creative because they abused the Fuel Tax Credit (4136 forms). There's an entire litany of various abuses, not the least of which is that he didn't sign a lot of the returns as a preparer.

All told, the IRS claims excess refunds were paid out to the tune of $950,000, but as the suit points out, the expenses faced by the IRS in dealing with all of the fraudulent returns will be significant.

I believe that some Jackson Hewitt branches got busted for that very same thing some time back. One of the offices involved was in Atlanta. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

Isn't "Tax Wisdom" a contradiction in terms?
My choice early in life was to either be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politican. And to tell the truth there's hardly any difference.
