Hello, I'm the author of the original article that started off this thread. I wrote it at the request of some Six Nations people who were concerned about what they saw happening. Just sorry that I missed a chance to see what the UNOTI member had to say.

I'm doing a follow up article. The "Sovran" bunch has apparently had some splits within it, Mary Blackshear being accused of a variety of things. The nonsense has also spread to a few Squamish leaders in the NW US and Canada.

Looks to be an interesting useful forum. There's some overlap between some of what yall discuss in here and what we do over at NAFPS. Nuwaubians, Washitaws, Sovrans, and the Little Shell Pembinas. Anyone interested is welcome.

What makes the sovereign citizen and freeman nonsense appeal to a few Natives is the same as what makes it appeal to Midwestern rural whites, or rural Black southerners. It seems like a quick fix that gives you a chance to sound off about the injustice you face.

But I should point out, there really aren't that many Natives who fall for the sovran nonsense. (The Washitaws, Nuwaubians, and most of the Pembinas and Sovrans aren't even Native.) Right now it seems limited to a few misguided activists among the Six Nations, the Trudeau family among the Anishnaabe, the Delorme family among the Pembinas, and a few Squamish. The big deterrent for this little movement getting too big among Natives is that it contradicts oral history tradition and elders, and you just don't do that. Not if you care to be considered a real part of the community.

You didn't miss much. Anyway, enough of it is quoted in various replies for you to get the idea.

Most tribes don't have casinos, and many that do are not esp profitable.

The sovran bunches are fairly marginal characters hoping for a little power and recognition. The Delormes originally split off from an actual tribe, the Little Shell of Montana, that had trouble fuIfilling the paper trail to get federal recognition. I couldn't find any sign of Ernestine Trudeau having any standing among the Anishnaabe.

There have been many "fake nations" and "fake tribes" scams over the years, all offering about the same stuff, i.e., worthless "International Drivers Licenses", and "International Passports", and some also even corporations and bank licenses, etc.

Our friend educatedindian and his colleagues over at the newagefraud board have kept loose tabs on these idiots. A couple of weeks ago, they received a classic dumbass complaint - gibberish, terrible grammar and impotent threats all rolled into one - from the husband of our deleting kinikia, "Robert Swift Arrow Daniel Rose".

Representative of The Cherokee Government
of Cherokee Nation of Indians of Cherokee Country
Treaties of 1730 & 1791
United Nations of Turtle Island- Federation of Turtle Island

I am acknowledge by the and the Nation I represent is the only Cherokee Treaty Nation that exists today. The other Cherokee groups are using new names, but they are not using the historically known Treaty name that was used in over 11 Treaties that we have found so far. The other Cherokee groups are"Recognized" by the , but only in [BIA] [DOI], but not in the exterior asserting any Treaties. If you check the Treaty database you will not find any Treaties with their names on the heading. If the other Cherokee groups wish to get involved with our repatriation process then they may do so, and we would welcome their participation, although we do not need recognition from them, because we are the only ones using the correct treaty name, and therefore we do not need to go backwards, but rather forwards. Our Cherokee Government is Sovereign and none of our Government Representatives are like the other groups are. Sovereignty is - "Supreme Political Independence". I will now be bring up a complaint against you and your fraud site for defamation of character and treaty violation. Remember I am not a [US CITIZEN] like all the other elected Cherokee Chiefs. You can not use intimidation on me to coerce me to give you any other information regarding these matters. Obviously you are very angry at me, but it is rather I who am very displease with the activity on your website and will seek justice, and if needed shut your website down for acts of cyber-terrorism. This is your last warning to cease-and-desist from posting any erroneous information regarding the topic that we are now discussing, and remove all information involving posts related to this subject. You may post an apology if you wish but that is all. You have 7 (seven) days to remove the posts or we will continue to seek legal action against you. Think about your next action very seriously. You, through your website have just crossed the line over the "Two Row" Supreme Law of the Great Turtle Island, and by law I have the right to stop you from proceeding to commit intellectual murder on me and any of the people I represent. Changes your ways and go in peace.

Guess we all need to be more careful. God forbid that we should "cross the line over the "Two Row" Supreme Law of the Great Turtle Island".

Another instance of magical thinking among the sov'runs.
