Fill Your SovCit Bingo Card Here

Post by Dr. Caligari »

This case has just about every SovCit buzzword I've ever heard, plus a few new ones:

Fake Indian tribe. Plaintiff who claims he's a king (and a deity!). Admiralty law. Louisiana Purchase. Suit vs. foreign heads of state. Monopolization of "intergalactic commerce." Yep, every imaginable kind of cray-cray, all in 5 double-spaced pages.

I don't think he got them all, but he definitely gets cred for trying. I really do like the "monopolization of intergalactic commerce" bit though, I think he does get extra credit for that, but again nothing to back it up, so boring.

Must think adding more names to the thing will make it fly better, when it never got off the ground to begin with.

So many fake Indian tribes, haven't heard of this one before, wonder if it's a homegrown one off?

The Emperor of the Universe here is apparently a Baton Rouge attorney. Claims various connections to the Atakapa-Ishak Nation.

Tribal lawsuits should have to be filed written in the tribal language.

Is no one going to mention the appellate court's use of "gumbo" in their denial of appeal?
The claims were based on a gumbo of
federal and state laws, including eighteenth-century federal treaties with
France and Spain, as well as sources such as the “Pactum De Singularis
Caelum, [or] the Covenant of One Heaven.”
I mean, kudos to them for adding a little tongue-in-cheek reference to a historically Creole dish.

Then it would at least be true authentic indigenous frontier gibberish. Still of no information of legal significance, but at least it would be authentic.
