Article on Las Vegas "Sovereign People's Court"

Post by Unidyne »

Seems a group of "sovruns" set up their own court in the back room of a print shop in Las Vegas, a stone's throw away from the Orleans Casino-Hotel resort.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/ma ... errorists/

Quote:
"In the back room of a small print shop in the shadow of the Orleans Arena stands a judicial bench next to a U.S. flag.
A large poster of the Ten Commandments hangs on one side of the room, and leaning up against another wall is a blown-up copy of a 1907 speech by President Theodore Roosevelt, touting the merits of a sovereign United States.
A set of the Nevada Revised Statutes and other legal books are lined up in a nearby bookcase. And in a box on the floor are videotape versions of “The Federal Mafia,” imprisoned tax protest leader Irwin Schiff’s book, the sale of which was banned in 2003 by a Las Vegas federal judge.
For the past couple of years, the back room of Sami V’s Signs has been home to the “Sovereign People’s Court for the United States,” the main local gathering place for the sovereign citizens movement. Nationwide, tens of thousands of Americans have declared themselves sovereign citizens, above the government’s jurisdiction and not obligated to pay taxes."

I found their website: http://www.sovereignpeoplescourt.com/

Have fun reading.

I wish (no affront to Unidyne) that people would get their facts straight.

No judge ever banned the sale of Schiff's book. Shiff, personally, was enjoined from selling the book as part of his ITP activities, specifically with respect to certain portions of the book which constituted commercial speech.

The book still can be (and is) legally sold and, in fact, is selling for far more than Schiff ever received due to its perceived value as a collector's item within the ITP community.

I was only quoting the Las Vegas Sun. In fact, one of the main sources of the rumor of the book being banned is Schiff himself!
On his website (http://paynoincometax.com/federalmafia.htm) are the words "It's very likely to become a collector's item since it's the first book we know of, to be banned in America."

In case anyone is curious, the URL's listed on the markerboard in the photo are:

http://www.statusisfreedom.com

And thanks for pointing out the gold fringe on the flag! You would think that a court run by "sovruns" wouldn't have a fringed flag!

A stock market report today mentions that the Peoples' Republic of China has dramatically increased its tax rebate on the manufacture of aluminum foil in order to increase sales of Chinese made foil around the world.
This means that the Sovereigns are assured of having sufficient helmets.

This is old, but I was staying at the Freemont Hotel Las Vegas when this was brought up again and I was just really interested to know how this started. I remember seeing the poster hanging in The Signature at MGM Grand as well.

Who started this bs? And do they still have this power?

In the vain hope that this is not drive-by spam; what power?

And a little tip to the moderators, a user named "kcamisado" have shoveled all kinds of links onto a lot of forums lately. Might as well lock down this post right away.

Thanks, Thule. Done.

The alternative is to wait until it returns to add the links, then ban its ass from the board. That requires some monitoring; this doesn't. Either way, I agree that the odds of posts like this one being legit are slim to none.
