A bit late here, but...

Some science-fiction writer (might have been Harlan Ellison, but I don't know for sure) once proposed that voting booths should include a computer that would present the voter with a couple of randomly selected quadratic equations and accept their vote only if they solved them correctly.

I've been doing a sort of informal survey at work and it looks like out of everyone in my workplace- including the ones with college degrees- I would be the only one with a vote.

BTW, my only educational qualification is a GED. It turns out that if you spend your adult life working as an electronics geek you won't be able to forget your high school algebra even if you try.
