One reason for his being in a supermax was that, about 10 years ago, a couple of his buddies from Montana showed up at the medium security prison where he was, flashed some phony badges as "Marshals of Montana" and said they were there to escort him to the "Republic of Montana". Also he kept filing bogus documents, including his own death certificate. One of his Freemen accomplices, Russell Landers, tried to blackmail his way out of prison by filing bogus liens against everything the warden owned.
