Sort of makes your head spin trying to keep up with the escapades of this shyster Dan Maltais.

First, he started his own juice company, SYNAURA, made from the juice of the Maqui Berry. (Not relevant to the story at hand but worth noting the beaut of a story he came up with to help sell this over priced elixir:)
The Maqui Berry is found in the Patagonian Region of Chile in South America. The Maqui Fruit and leaves have been used by the local people including the Mapuche Indians for centuries for food and various ailments. Apparently, they have never been conquered and have excellent stamina.
Well, Dan ran into a few problems trying to get Synaura off the ground and running, so to make a long story short, he sold the company to a company called Elur.

Funny thing is, if you look at the incorporation papers filed with the Nevada SOS for Elur, DANNY R MALTAIS is listed as the President, Treasurer and Director, and his girlfriend, ANDREA L WILSON, as Secretary.

So now it appears Danny boy has driven Elur into the ground and the distributors left a pile of unpaid commissions owing (took the money and ran more accurately).
As most of you already know by now, Synaura/Elur is dead. The ISSUE is that ex-CEO Dan Maltais lied about Synaura being sold to Elur when the TRUTH is Elur is just simply re-branding himself due to the trouble with Synaura that resulted from his mistakes.
Dan Maltais New Venture & Ugly Tactics!!!

Not to let a good distributor base go to waste, Maltais has recently joined up with a new energy drink company, Xowii.
"you wont believe me? I don't know if you know this, but Brett Gurney and Andrew Sinay also joined Xowii under Dan!! and guess what? they are going after all Synaura/Elur database to try to get them in Xowii!! This is madness!! people are going to join Andrew or Brett when they are actually joining Dan Maltais!! that is bull#$#@#!"

As I said, it makes your head spin trying to keep up date with the latest con games these flimflam artists are playing. Image

It appears, from their own mouths, that Elur is dead. Another scam bites the dust. The only surprise is that people still pay ripoffs like these for the privilege of selling their overpriced garbage. So that's not what I want to rant about.

I am really tired of writing about jungle juices. None of them have shown any benefits to people who eat a healthy diet and don't need supplementation. For those who do need supplementation, it is available at a fraction of the price of these ripoffs.

While Synaura's website tells you the ingredients that Avia contains, it doesn't tell you the amounts. That is, of course, ridiculous. For all anyone knows, they squeezed a handful of maqui (AKA maquis) berries over a kiloliter vat of the stuff. And the ingredients are nothing special. They center on antioxidant activity. I've made two points about antioxidants - substances that scavenge free radicals - before. First of all, the claim that some exotic fruit has extremely high ORAC is pretty useless. Even if true, if you want more antioxidants, you can drink more orange or carrot or berry juice for a tiny fraction of the price that less of this stuff costs. Second, and perhaps more important, is that to date it has only been possible to measure antioxidant properties in vitro, not in vivo. There is no evidence that these compounds benefit humans in quantities beyond RDA of vitamins with antioxidant properties. The best summary of the research I know of comes from the European Food Safety Authority. The FDA seems to shy away from the subject - although they surely say nothing to the contrary - apparently because too many politicians value contributions from the industry over science.

In any event, here is the stuff Synaura claims to put in its juice. They list astaxanthin first. As they say, it's a carotenoid, one of a group of antioxidants of which beta-carotene is probably the best known. According to at least one study, it's among the least effective of the group. And remember that all this is in vitro.

Second is resveratrol. It seems that all of these things include resveratrol these days. As everyone knows, it's an antioxidant found in red wine. You want it, drink red wine. Chateau Lafite is probably cheaper than Avia. I like red wine.

Next is bacopa. Bacopa is admittedly interesting. Certain studies (such as this one in Neuropsychophamacology) show promising results for short-term memory in certain cohorts. Want some? Vitamin Shoppe has it for $8.49 for 100 one-a-day caps.

Turmeric. Also of some interest. There are several ongoing studies on turmeric, with as yet inconclusive results. Want some? Open your spice cabinet.

And so on. What does this wonderful elixir cost? As usual, they don't make it easy to find out. This distributor says $65 per month, almost $800 per year.

These are obvious ripoffs. I'm not doing this any more. No more jungle juice.

Worth noting if you're following the escapades of Dan "Dreamcatcher" Maltais:

... a blog by one thoroughly pissed off ex-Synaura Distributor that is owed a lot of money - and likely has little hope of ever seeing . :D
