A tax protester from Cowansville who did not file personal tax returns from 2009 to 2012 and returns for his numbered company from 2007 to 2012 has been fined $10,500 and sentenced to 40 days in jail.
A lovely man.

A rough translation of the full article:

The tax protester Jacques-Antoine Normandin doesn't hold back from expressing his opinions, and neither do his friends. Their laughter and groans caused their expulsion from the courtroom yesterday.

After a first warning, Judge Julie Beauchesne ordered the expulsion of the four friends of Mr. Normandin, a 62-year-old bricklayer, found guilty in April of failing to pay taxes for seven years. As they left the room, they shouted "f*ck you! You have no power over me!" to the security guards.

The hearing continued in relative calm, but the parties clashed verbally, several times. For the Crown, Prosecutor Guy Fontaine objected to questions he deemed irrelevant regarding a discussion of the sentence. Michel Lebrun, counsel for the defense, had questioned a representative of Revenu Québec, implying that his client was arrested because he is "known". "Mr. Normandin is a citizen like the others," he said. "He should not have to undergo special scrutiny." The official did not confirm these allegations. Lyne Provencher, however, revealed that the accused had finally produced his tax returns ... but they were not signed.

Why? "I did not want to create a legal effect in a non-legal environment," said Mr. Normandin cryptically. He added: "a signature can be almost anything; and it could be made under duress." Asked later about why he refused to open the packages sent by Revenue Quebec and Revenue Canada, the sexagenarian replied: "I do not want to be responsible for the unknown contents of the package. It was a matter of caution on my part. I love the world. "

He's certainly "known", I have a mass of information about him. Anyone who with a better ability at French than me (almost anyone at all) feel free to peruse what the Western Cabal has uncovered so far, given below;

I'm going to try and get assistance on French translations of some of this stuff before I comment.
