No problem, I fixed it. If you go back to your last post and hit "Edit", you'll see how it should go. The BBCode is [xxx] before the relevant material, and [/xxx] after. You can also select the material, then click the appropriate button above the posting box. That automatically wraps the tags around what you've selected.

BTW, I hadn't heard the name "Eldon Warman" in a long time, but I certainly remember him from the old Usenet days of misc.taxes and misc.legal. A true wacko.

Thanks for the tip. A little taste of Eldon's writing style. He adds a little zip to our normally bland northern dominion (apart from the fact he is writing about you guys). He's getting on and is apparently looking for someone to take over his Detax website. Any volunteers?

"What is not being considered in this video is the distinct possibility that they are part of the 'white hatters', of which Obama is playing the part of the Hindu god, Vishnu - the Destroyer, in the taking down of the fascist/corporate structure that has ruled America since the Revolutionary War, and which has prevented the creation of the 'Grand Republic, by the people and for the people' that was originally intended and sold as the primary reason for that Revolutionary War.

If there is a secret leadership group, as some claim, who are the 'white hatters', then that would explain the meteoric rise from nowhere of Obama, and such organizations as Wikileaks.
The American people have been so brainwashed into believing that the corporate structure that has ruled America for some 230+ years is the America to be worshiped and venerated. That belief has to be destroyed before progress can be made in the construction of America as the Grand Republic it was intended to be."

I too apologize to Canada for sharing our misfortune.

Every single day, I get on Twitter and search on "sovereign citizen". I'm seeing more public declarations of sovereign citizenship both from UK and Canadian twits. I am amazed that people can really embrace this garbage. May the force be with us all.

I like the part about "...that, with proper interpretation of the law..." which could be said of many things, and was what our old friend Palaverin' Pete tried, the problem being, that his "proper interpretation of the law" didn't happen to jibe with anyone else in the real world's view in the matter, and he is now, where Porisky et al are most likely going to end up. Maybe their problem was that they argued "Person" instead of "includes", although neither seemed to do ole Pete any particular amount of good.

One major difference, they were obviously better at it than Pete as their tax bill was a whole lot higher. And, they got off a good deal lighter than Pete, and ultimately Doreen will, which in a way I find as ironic, way more money, significantly less time for pretty much the same line of BS.

Tax protester can’t speak for Kamloops dump owner, judge rules
November 22, 2011

A notorious anti-tax crusader who has been labelled a vexatious litigant in B.C. won’t be able to represent a Kamloops dump owner in court, a judge has ruled.

B.C. Supreme Court Justice Robert Powers denied a request from Daniel Ambrosi to have David Lindsay represent him at court hearings related to his Valleyview landfill.
Lindsay, a well-known “activist” who says he won’t pay taxes because he is not a “person” as defined by the Income Tax Act, has pressed his beliefs at all levels of court in many provinces in Canada.

Lindsay, who claims instead to be a “full liability free will flesh and blood living man," goes by the name David-Kevin: Lindsay. He has claimed in the past he has not paid taxes since 1996, and also claims he will never pay taxes again.

I didn't deal with Lindsay but I knew people who did. As obstreperous as any of your sovereigns but with one huge difference. No second amendment rights here so they don't usually have guns, they limit themselves to being nuisances in court. As an article in CNN today noted;

Canadian border city has first homicide in 26 months

(CNN) -- In his 60 years, Arnold Blaine has known only two people who've owned a gun: one a hunter, the other a nightclub owner.

"We don't even have gun shops," said the Windsor, Ontario, business owner.

The paucity of guns is one of three factors police in the city across the river from Detroit cite for its low homicide rate. The 25-year average for homicides is about 5.24 a year.

Thursday, Windsor reported its first homicide since late September 2009. A 30-year-old faces a murder charge in the stabbing of a 40-year-old acquaintance. Police are still looking for the weapon, and the killing is not believed to be drug-related, spokesman Sgt. Brett Corey said.

In Detroit, home to about 713,000 people last year, homicides occur nearly once a day.

People in his city of about 215,000 have a saying, Blaine said Friday afternoon: "In Windsor, when a 7-Eleven is held up, it usually is a knife. In Detroit, it is an Uzi."

I lived in a small town a few hours north of Detroit about 25 years ago. Our daily paper was from Detroit.

In the header at the top of the first page was the "homicides to date this year" statistic. It always pretty closely corresponded with the number of days which had passed in that year. The average then was about one homicide per day.

And after 25 years, things still haven't changed. Sad.

As far as I can tell from the internet the murder-per-day average still holds in Detroit although it has lost about 25% of its population in the last decade.

I live in Vancouver, considered a fairly violent city by Canadian standards because of drugs and gang involvment. However there were only 9 homicides in Vancouver in 2010, a 50% drop from a whopping 19 homicides in 2009. This in a population of about 650,000. 2009 was considered an abberation because of a vicious gang war over turf and drugs where the thugs were killing each other off. Vancouver is an unusual city in that the average family can't afford to live here because the a standard non-megamansion type house costs about $750,000 to $1,000,000 so about 75 % of the population of what we call Vancouver lives in the peripheral municipalities. If you throw them all in the mix we had 40 homicides in 2010, down from 76 in 2009. This in a population of about 2,300,000. The absence of guns, particularly small arms, are the key to this. The gangs have some guns but they don't use them against the general population and nobody, apart from registered licensed target shooters holding legally, and a relatively small number of criminals holding illegally, have small arms.

I'm 62 and I don't remember having seen a gun since my early 20's when I was prospecting and carried a rifle as protection against grizzlies. Certainly nobody I know owns one. I'm quite happy to have the heavy hand of government repression keep me from gun ownership if it means the average low-life can't get one either.

Thats the problem. Their criminals since they do things illegally to start with. Some of the most violence ridden cities in the world and countries for that matter it is illegal to posses firearms or, at a minimum, handguns. Im glad you dont have the problems that our major cities dont but I think youll find its from a different issue, not from a lack of weapons to use.

That's starting to change as US gun culture migrates north with the sovereign ideology.

In the US, the "sovereign citizen" nonsense is at least consonant with statements in law and politics that "the people are sovereign." There should be some cognitive dissonance when you declare yourself to be a "sovereign citizen" in a country that still has an actual sovereign.

And another sovereign sentenced but not incarcerated. As I said before actual jail terms are a rarity up here for tax evaders. Hopefully our local Our local infection will be subdued if Porisky is found guilty. With luck the Court will make an exception on no jail time for him and his wife. Baines is providing me with pretty regular Saturday morning entertainment at the moment. And I beat Demos to this one.

Interestingly, Blaine, Washington (the closest US town to Vancouver) has the highest gun per capita ratio in the US, which is due to the large number of guns owned by Canadians and stored across the border in the gun-friendly US of A.

FYI, a summary of gun issues in Canada from Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Canada

Also, for what it is worth, IMHO, gun violence reflects the level of violence in the society. Guns are the choice of the efficient violent person, for they have greater range than an axe and are easier to conceal than a baseball bat.

The US, or, at least my part of the US, which is San Antonio and South Texas, is a very violent place. Beatings, stabbings, shootings, child abuse, spousal abuse, road rage and other violent crimes are far from uncommon. Now, the Mexican drug wars are beginning to cross the border.

In addition, if you wish to include crimes where violent events are the predictable result of conduct, the number of drunk drivers on our highways is another huge problem -- there's nothing that says mayhem like a drunk driving the wrong way on I-10 or I-35.

In San Antonio, this is clearly a multiracial problem -- violence is initiated by all colors and class (or income level) is important -- i.e., poor people tend to have more violent interactions than those in the middle class -- a comfortable income does not mean that the spouse is not being abused or the child beaten or the car being operated by a drunk.

The Wikipedia article states;

The policy of the Conservative Government has been to work for the abolition of the long-gun registry within the constraints of a minority Government while introducing certain measures (such as a waiver on licence renewal fees and an amnesty for those who may possess unregistered non-restricted firearms with a licence or recently expired licence) to ease the requirements on firearms owners. To date, the Conservative Government has not supported a ban on handguns as advocated by the other parties. Instead, the Government has argued that handguns are already tightly regulated and only available to licensed target shooters, collectors and those requiring them for the protection of life.

This is a bit out of date. The Conservatives finally got a majority government last May and one of their priorities is the abolition of the long gun registry. This is expected to pass in the next session of Parliament. The registry was a disaster from day one, massively expensive and so poorly done it was effectively worthless. A waste of tax dollars. In addition it addressed a problem that didn't exist since the majority of gun offenses in Canada are by handgun so registering rifles was essentially pointless. The Conservative party, like your Republican party, is right-wing and gets much of its support from rural voters. The gun registry was a huge issue for them and helped the Conservatives finally get their majority.
