Residents from the Milwaukee neighborhoods of Riverwest and East Side are scheduled to meet Wednesday to discuss printing their own money.

I'd think of them more like mall gift cards. Most the retailers are on board from the start, and no one is trying to "pass" the local currency as "real money".

Not surprising - these two neighborhoods are bastions of berkleyesque liberalism and anti-globalism. Problem is that many it's residents have gone from being poor grad students to well-heeled professionals who need to consume as much or more than us Walmart-liking schlubs, but they need to feel good about it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bernhoft fellows there, but they'd be a little out of place, as they wouldn't smell like bong water, patchouli, or drive Audis.
