That's part of the "british israelite" novement that claims that the "lost tribes of Israel" went north and ended up in Britain. Exactly when this happened differs from claimant to claimant, but they all use word games like "saxon" = "Issac's sons".

This makes british people, including british descended americans, the authentic heirs of many Old Testament prophecies.

Strangely, this idea doesn't seem to include any other germanic peoples, not even the other saxons, the ones who stayed on the continent and became germans instead of english. But some version do include some of the celtic populations of Britain, but again, not the ones across the Channel.

Fake universities thrive on the web

Web-based bogus UK universities appear to be thriving despite the efforts of the authorities to shut them down.

Among those currently trading on the UK's reputation for academic excellence, to offer courses over the internet, is "Shepperton University", purportedly in London.

Its website states: "Maintaining academic integrity free from fraud and deception is an important objective of Shepperton University."

It is illegal to offer a degree qualification which could be taken to be that of a recognised UK institution - and there is no such university.

Greater Manchester - not

Calls to Shepperton's phone number divert to an international-sounding dial tone, followed by a recorded announcement asking people to leave their contact details.

Likewise, the "University of Dorchester" gives a mobile phone as its contact number and - again - all the registrars are busy.

Another curiosity is "GM University" which charges £3,200 for undergraduate degrees in eight subjects, mostly to do with information technology.

According to its website it is based in the British Virgin Islands as "Greater Manchester University Ltd", and claims to be accredited by an open learning association in the UK.

Elsewhere it says: "This University Based in the Isle of Man" adding: "Greater Manchester University is Register as a company with the Government of UK this University only offer none campus base Education through our Partner Organization or Institute around the world."

Shut down

Its stated "mission" includes the strange aim "... to promote the application of relevant knowledge to benefit the State of Vermont and society as a whole."

This appears to indicate it was copied from the (real) University of Vermont's website - Vermont, in the USA, being nowhere near Manchester, UK.

The genuine higher education institutions in Manchester are the University of Manchester, Umist (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology), Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Salford - which subtitles itself "a Greater Manchester University".

UK and US trading standards officials last year closed down 14 websites offering fake British degrees for up to £1,000 each.

The certificates, from 14 made-up institutions, were said to have been used by hundreds of unqualified people, mainly in North America, to gain jobs in areas such as teaching, computing and childcare.

The Department for Education and Skills warns people: "It is an offence in the UK for any organisation to offer a degree qualification which could be taken to be that of a recognised UK institution."

The website addresses of the bogus institutions are a quick giveaway, because they cannot obtain the bona fide ".ac.uk" domain - though it has been known for some to use ".ac", the Ascension Islands domain.

Unfortunately, bogus schools are not just a problem in the UK. There are many operations here in the U.S. that are equally bogus. Oregon attempts to maintain a list of unaccredited schools.

In regards to Shawn, the sad part is that he actually started with a decent education and the beginning of a career in the Military. By his 'resume', it appears that he began to go bonkers in 1995, though it probably started a few years earlier.

Some random thoughts on the "resume":

1. At first I thought he had wasted his money paying tuition to some fake schools, but then I realized that I was assuming that he was being truthful. After all, if you lie about having a degree from a fraudulent school, who's going to correct you? The school itself is never going to respond to questions. They probably don't even have any records, and they probably don't mind the false claims because it's publicity and could make them look more legit.

3. Similarly, I thought that "Jay Thomas, PhD JD" was interesting, but then realized that the credentials of his teachers could be as bogus as his own.

4. Having both an LLB and a JD is redundant, I believe, kind of like having a BA and BS in the same subject (which I believe is possible).

5. All those legal degrees, and legal work, but no actual bar admission, of course. That resume could be "Exhibit A" in a UPL prosecution (assuming he's telling the truth about doing legal work, of course).

6. Most of the employers look to be as bogus as the schools, and many/most are probably "organizations" he created as facades/labels for whatever he was doing at the moment.

7. Many of the job descriptions are unintentionally funny, such as serving as both a cargo pilot and in-house counsel simultaneously. As icing on the cake, his responsibilities as in-house counsel included estate planning (?), criminal defense (?), and "ecclesiastical instruction."

8. The one job I actually believe is the tree-trimming job, but I was disappointed that he wasn't honest about his work. Instead of just admitting he needed the money, he writes BS about studying the business.

9. The fact that he "studied" under "businessman Wade Cook" speaks volumes.

10. With all the fake jobs and fake schools, I wonder if his family is real or if he is faking them also.

11. There's a lot of personal information there that could be used for identity theft, but he probably realizes that it's not really worth anything and that nobody would want it. In fact, he's probably not too crazy about his identity himself.

I agree with LPC, who said what I was thinking but did it much more clearly.

This resume is very badly written. Throwing in his divorce, his work for a "Jews for Jesus" type church, and some other personal details is not only unnecessary but something that real employers don't want to be told for fear of being accused of some sort of discrimination.
Mentioning his repeated start-and-stop efforts at studying law (apart from the fact that it all seems to be unaccredited) doesn't make him look good. And, of course, it's just too long - particularly for someone with such modest attainments. Frankly, I would think that if he had held a REAL job in a REAL company, or at least was given a serious job interview by a real company, he would have learned something about writing a resume.

I'll close this by adding that his alleged "resume" is more akin to something made up to impress the gullible. The ignorant will develop really interesting theories from things they don't understand.

I have a grandson that for a brief time when he was five believed I was the President of the United States because he recognized one of his new vocabulary words on one of my business cards that my daughter had on their refrigerator.
