Hal Turner's explanation of his FBI informant status

Hal Turner “Informant” Revelations

This statement has been approved for distribution by the Hal Turner Group, with complete attorney approval.

Hal Turner was recruited by the FBI Join Terrorism Task Force in around 2002.
The FBI was concerned about terrorism after 9-11. They wanted as many sources of information as they could get to prevent innocent people from being killed. Like any other normal person, Hal wanted innocent people protected from madmen bent on bombing shopping malls, hospitals, schools, or flying planes into buildings.

The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force offered to become an “Anonymous Benefactor” to pay for Hal’s radio show-related travel expenses if he agreed to keep his ears open. Hal felt that it was fair, so he agreed.

Later, he was approached by supervisory people who were higher up in the FBI. They wanted Hal to be an “Intelligence Operative”. They pointed out how radical, Marxist-oriented left-wing liberals, their politicians and their judges were destroying the fabric of America. Liberal Legislation was socializing the land, Liberal Immigration policy left our borders wide open, and Liberal Judges were shredding the Constitution. Hal fully agreed with that analysis. These FBI higher-ups spoke to Hal about how Conservatives were too modest to resort to “street activism” and how the reluctance of the right to go out in the streets is causing us to lose the culture war. (Such remains the case to this very day.)

They spoke to him about the need to use the tactics of the Left - - - to DEFEAT the Left, by:
1) Infiltration of Left-Wing Groups
2) Demonization of the Enemy
3) Sabotaging Left-wing meetings/projects
4) Fomenting Street Action

Hal jumped at the chance to do this. Hal felt like a kid in a candy store! Finally, those on the right would be doing what needed doing! They operated under the notion: “ The end justifies the means”.

The higher-ups in the FBI told Hal that he would be paid in cash – through the Confidential Informer Budget – “which is the one pile of cash that Congress won’t audit!” – They ACTUALLY said that!

The higher-ups made it clear to Hal that NO ONE could ever know; NOT EVEN the guys that were “handling him” on the JTTF. Hal agreed to this. Not even his family had any idea that this was happening.

During Hal’s on-again/off-again 6 years with JTTF Hal was given many tasks, among them:

Flush out the ADL/AIPAC “moles” within the FBI and US Dept of Justice (USDOJ). According to the FBI, the ADL has a long criminal history of accessing police files. The FBI knew it had information leaks which had impaired many investigations of Israeli, Jewish, and other suspects. The FBI wanted to plug up those leaks.

Hal was tasked to viciously, internationally, and savagely assail jews. He was told to hurl invective bigotry, anti-semitism and outright hate at Israeli jews, jewish groups, judges, legislators, and businesses. These were not his views, but the image he was ordered to project.

The FBI knew (and still know) that as soon as these groups identify a new “threat”, they first research everything they can get their hands on about that ‘threat’, regardless of the legality of the search. This includes grabbing FBI files. They look for ‘dirt’. The FBI had installed a special symbol in Hal’s file. Whenever his FBI file was accessed by ANYONE, ANYWHERE, a report of the inquiry was generated directly to the JTTF. This way the FBI could find out who, in what office/agency, was looking at Hal’s file immediately after he launched his anti-semetic, anti-Israel verbal onslaught.

In less than one month, this operation uncovered more than 240 ‘moles’ in the FBI, CIA, USDOJ, NSA, House of Representatives, the US Senate, the White House, various State Police, and even overseas governments!

This operation was a stunning success!

Countless “leaks” were plugged. Inside the FBI, people were cut off from certain information access, re-assigned, urged to retire, or fired. Agencies, like the Pennsylvania State Police, had their access to certain information severely curtailed. Similarly, the US Capitol Police had to be discretely cut off.

Hal’s work for the FBI helped secure out national law enforcement information from people using it to advance their criminalistic goals. He is proud of the work he’s done to help his country.

Unfortunately, these groups somehow found out about this when President Obama came into office.

Hal is jailed on false charges –payback for what he did/said. The ADL was even quoted by the Assistant District Attorney as he argued before the judge in New Jersey that Hal should be denied bail! They obviously wanted Hal to know who is doing this to him, and WHY! Judge Ashman, the Judge that presided over the bail hearing(s) in Chicago is also the judge that signed the Search warrant for Hal’s home. Coincidence? Not likely.

The higher-ups in the FBI were so pleased with Hal’s work they gave him more to do, much more. Hal will ultimately tell it all – here’s one more sample of what he was TOLD to do: Target the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

The FBI believed (and still believes) that the SPLC had one or more informants inside “Elohim City” where the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building was allegedly planned. The FBI believes that the SPLC KNEW about the bomb plans but DELIBERATELY CONCEALED that knowledge so as to let the bombings happen! The SPLC then used the bombing to raise $100 Million to battle such “HATE”.
The FBI executed a ‘Sneak Peak” “FISA” warrant on SPLC headquarters to copy computer data, install keystroke loggers, audio listening devices and more. Once all that was in place, it was time for a “Rally”. Hal got together with other pro-whites and staged a big rally outside the SPLC headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama.

Thanks to the FISA warrant, and telephone taps via the USA Patriot Act – every contact, informant, media lackey, attorney, client and vendor to SPLC was identified, cataloged, researched, and listed. Got them all --- but cannot go after them for a misprision of a felony relating to Oklahoma City. The FBI knows that the SPLC is guilty, they just can’t prove it!

Hal was proud to be able to do this to the SPLC. To his thinking, they are an Un-American, subversive group that deserves what Hal helped the FBI do.

When the media in Chicago heard in open court that Hal was an Intelligence Operative, they sat in stunned dis-belief. When they heard Assistant US Attorney Hogan ADMIT it was true, the media exploded with news coverage --- using the term ‘informant’. They are simpletons.

Now you all know that what Hal did was far different from being a ‘rat’. He WAS NO ‘SNITCH’!

NOT ONE right-wing or “pro-white” group was ever investigated, searched, probed, arrested, indicted or jailed because of Hal’s activities. NOT ONE! ANYWHERE! EVER!

The people in the FBI that Hal worked with are all right-wingers and devout Christians like Hal. They all grew up in a very different America. They are all patriots who see the writing on the wall - like Hal.

They have element throughout every branch of government, fighting for America every day. This fight is not merely taking place in cyberspace. It is a real fight, with real people, like Hal, actually out on the front line, putting everything they are, everything they hold dear at risk.

The enemy are evil people. It is not a matter of political disagreement or ideological difference. This is a fight between good and evil.

Those of us on the good side fear God, trust in the individual to do the right thing on his own, embrace freedom and free enterprise.

Those on the evil side trust no one but themselves. They plan to control your life, your property, what food you eat, what you can say and do. They are FIENDS who must be stopped.

Hal did what was asked of him, and they have now retaliated by making a false “threat” out of legally protected free speech. They have him jailed as a --- a “high level threat” --- in Total isolation 24 hours a day! At the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago where Hal is being held, there are murders, rapists, armed robbers, mobsters, drug king-pins, gang-bangers and child molesters; THEY all get to leave their cells to watch TV and movies, play board games, cards or read. Hal CANNOT! He is kept in his cell – ALONE – 23 hours a day on weekdays, and 24 hours a day on weekends. Hal may call his family once a month!
When these murderers, etc., get their daily “recreation” they are taken out on the roof of MCC. Hal cannot go. Instead, he is walked, handcuffed, 20 feet from his cell to a 10’ by 10’ room which has a broken exercise bike and a pull-up bar. He says in that room for one hour, cuffed again, and walked back to his cell.

He is allowed to shower on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, he is walked, handcuffed, to the shower, give 5 minutes to wash and given clean underwear (but NOT a clean jump-suit) cuffed again and walked back to his cell. Hal’s bed linens are weeks old – no clean sheets or blankets for Hal!

Although Hal has some money in his commissary account, he can not use it in the same way those other prisoners can use it. They can buy all commissary items, while Hal cannot! All the criminals that have been mentioned here have been TRIED and CONVICTED! Hal HAS NOT!

This is what it’s like to be a political prisoner, held and abused by the left. They outright lie to make up false charges, jail you without bail, and then restrict you in prison worse than they do a murderer. This is the kind of thing we used to hear about in the former Soviet Union. Now, it’s happening here in the USA.

Hal hopes you have a better understanding of who Hal is and what he did. He is no traitor. He is a Patriot, a proud, right-wing Conservative Christian.

Hal never abandoned the cause or our country. Please do not abandon Hal! Hal needs your help to fight these charges. Hal and his family are wiped out financially with legal bills.

Well, if I had as little to go on, when defending myself, as this buffoon and his fellows do, I might come up with whoppers like this myself.

Back on Planet Earth: there is an actual defense called "public authority". Actually, there are different types - the discussion with which I am most familiar comes from a Second Circuit case, United States v. Abcasis, 45 F.3d 39 (2d Cir. 1995). Whatever type, F.R.Cr.P. 12.3 requires that the defendant notify the govt of its intended use:
(a)(1) A defendant intending to claim a defense of actual or believed exercise of public authority on behalf of a law enforcement or Federal intelligence agency at the time of the alleged offense shall. . .serve upon the attorney for the government a written notice of such intention. . . . Such notice shall identify the law enforcement or Federal intelligence agency and any member of such agency on behalf of which and the period of time in which the defendant claims the actual or believed exercise of public authority occurred....
Now, the defense has filed a lengthy motion to dismiss on First Amendment grounds, but has not let out a peep about a public authority defense. IOW, according to the defense, he was exercising his First Amendment right to be an asshole, not doing the government's bidding.

'Course, it was obvious bullshit anyway.

Man charged with threatening 7th Circuit judges gets home confinement
Lynne Marek
September 14, 2009

U.S. District Judge Donald Walter has ordered the release of Internet blogger and Web talk show host Hal Turner, who was arrested in June for declaring in an online posting that three Chicago-based federal judges "deserve to be killed."

Turner is on his way back to his home state of New Jersey after Walter decided in a Sept. 9 conference call meeting with lawyers that Turner could be released under "strict conditions," including a prohibition on his speaking to the media, home confinement and electronic monitoring, said Michael Oroczo, who represents Turner. He said his client was currently in the U.S. Marshal Service’s custody in Oklahoma City as he's being transferred to New Jersey.

Now that it's been revealed that Hal Turner was an agent provocateur for the FBI, the mayor of a town that was troubled by a Turner-led teabagger party wants the FBI to compensate the town for its riot control expenses.

Is that mayor that desperate or is he that stupid?

Has the FBI admitted that Turner was an informant? At this point the cats out of the bag it couldn't hurt them if he was in fact an informant, but how do they prove he wasn't it's not like they can show the name of every informant they ever had? It would be nearly impossible to prove that he wasn't.

EDIT

To answer my own question no they haven't admitted he's an informant. I really hope the city cousel watches this mayor he could run thousands of dollars in legal fees for nothing.

The FBI has indeed admitted that Turner was an informant. His code name was "Valhalla." Indeed, they paid him quite a bit of money to stir up the masses and then report the contact info and IP addresses of anyone who took his bait. If I were the mayor, I'd be stinking mad at what the FBI's paid informant has cost his city.

I've been reading all of the filings in the criminal case which started yesterday in Brooklyn. As of 9 am this morning, it was still in jury selection and I may fly up next week to blog the goings on there.

BTW, there's some stuff in the court filings that make me really really mad...

You know I thought about this on my long trip home.

Did the FBI learn nothing from Whitey Buldgar? He was a "Paid Informant" and FBI agents tipped him off when they got close he committed ass much crime on the pay roll as he ever did off the pay roll. I think paid informants are great, but you need to get the grunts and lieutenants not the generals. I'm not saying there was some grand FBI conspiracy to use Turner to do whatever, I think most of those died with Hoover. I just think the whole thing was mismanaged.

Was the point to stop another Ruby Ridge/Waco/Okalahoma City? They seem to be doing a great job doing that. Check out the Southern Poverty Law Center Militias are on the rise again.

Again WTF was the FBI thinking?

You underestimate the creativity of law enforcement. This kind of thing is more routine than conspiratorial. Turner was being used to deliberately lure known and unknown fringe actors into revealing any number of interesting tidbits.

Yeah, but i'm pretty sure Turner's story has a lot of embellishment. It's one thing to pretend to be a right wing extremist to spy on real ones. But the idea that he was ordered to say nasty things about jews and minorities to expose leftist conspirators hidden in law enforcement is just bizarre.

This raises very serious questions, not only about FBI ethics but also about entrapment -- and even the promotion of antisocial behavior and attitudes. Turner now says that the FBI told him to say racist and inflammatory things repeatedly, to draw out suspects.

But, by being able, through the FBI's indulgence, to publicize racism and threats without hindrance, Turner demonstrated to his entire audience that such expressions were acceptable, even legal, and encouraged them to follow his example.

This is analogous to a kiddie porn case, which goes back about 25 years although I forget the name: The conviction of someone who had been lured to purchase some from an FBI sting was overturned; the court held that the FBI's repeated, apparently mass produced, mailings of extremely explicit ads for same to the defendant had essentially deceived him into believing, because this advertising seemed to be widespread and unimpeded, that what he was doing was not illegal.

Bingo.

I'm on trial (basically since Labor Day) and don't have the time to give this subject the attention it deserves. Still, I've mentioned here before that I represented one of the defendants in United States v. Abdel-Rahman, the year-long trial of the (lead defendant) blind Egyptian sheikh and nine others for conspiring to blow up half of Manhattan. Making a very long story short, the FBI was highly embarrassed by the 1993 car bombing in the garage of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, pulled off under their noses by a bunch of nitwits so dim that one of them reported the rental van which contained the bomb stolen and attempted to get back his $300 deposit (Mohammad Salameh). As a result, they pulled out of the dustbin a retired Egyptian Army officer named Emad Salem whom they had previously shown the door as insufficiently reliable. They paid him a fortune to recruit an even dimmer band of nitwits from the basements of local mosques, these guys so dumb that they believed that the tunnels under the Hudson were tubes sitting on the riverbed rather than bored under it. Salem preached that jihad was a duty. The FBI financed all of the activities - including the obtaining of bomb-making materials and the place to put them together - because the defendants didn't collectively have a pot to piss in. They finally busted everyone (except Salem, of course) in a great show of having saved the City. Good work, FBI. These morons would have talked themselves to death were it not for you.

Of course, since they all had "predisposition" stamped on their foreheads, the entrapment defense was a non-starter. Defense costs to the taxpayer were approximately $15 million, including wserra's fee. The prosecution cost far more.

Your tax dollars at work.

I got to thinking about something I saw on TV not to long ago.

The ATF had a long running investigation into the Hells Angels and other biker gangs. It cost the tax payers several million dollars and at the end they arrested a lot of people. Everything was great until the US Attorneys office got involved and then everything went down hill real quick.

The ATF Agent had basically entrapped the bikers. He made all the drug deals, he made all the arms deals. he was their leader. They just followed his orders. It's a little different because he was an agent and not an informant but still I should have realized that Law Enforcement still do this kind of stuff.

Trial of Blogger Accused of Threatening 7th Circuit Judges Opens
Prosecutor tells jury that defendant took credit for encouraging the 2005 murders of relatives of a federal judge
Mark Fass
New York Law Journal
December 03, 2009

Opening arguments took place Wednesday in the Brooklyn federal court trial of Hal Turner, the New Jersey blogger and Internet-radio talk-show host accused of threatening on his blog to assault and kill three federal judges for their votes to uphold handgun bans in and around Chicago.
"Hal Turner is wrong about what he's allowed to publish, he is wrong about where to draw the line for the First Amendment," Chicago federal prosecutor William R. Hogan Jr. told the jury. "He cannot call for [the judges'] execution and murder."
In his one-hour opening, which was cut off mid-sentence by the presiding judge, visiting District Court Judge Donald Walter of Louisiana, Hogan described Turner as a sophisticated defendant who knew very well that his postings could lead to attacks on judges, and who in fact had taken credit for encouraging the 2005 murders of the mother and husband of Chicago federal Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow.
Hogan, an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, quoted a blog entry posted by Turner just after that attack, which boasted, "Let this killing be an example for every other federal official."
Turner's lead attorney, Michael A. Orozco, described his client's postings as the constitutionally protected editorials of a concerned Internet reporter.
"For the first time in over 100 years, " Orozco said, "a member of the media is on trial for expressing his own opinion."
Orozco, a solo practitioner in Newark, N.J., also argued that the prosecution represents a "betrayal" by the federal government, which for four years employed Turner as a confidential informant on racist radicals and encouraged him to be provocative.
Turner was "nothing but a shock jock, a radio personality whose hand was guided by the federal government," Orozco said in his 15-minute opening.
At the heart of the government's case are a series of blog entries posted by Turner in June, in which he called for the murders of Judges Richard Posner, Frank Easterbrook and William Bauer of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for voting to uphold handgun bans in Chicago and Oak Park.
"Let me be the first to say this plainly: These Judges deserve to be killed. Their blood will replenish the tree of liberty," Turner wrote in one of several postings quoted Wednesday by Hogan. "These Judges deserve to [be] made such an example of as to send a message to the entire judiciary: Obey the Constitution or die."
Turner, a vocal and vitriolic opponent of gun control, immigration and abortion rights, also posted the judges' photographs, phone numbers and work address, as well as a map of the federal courthouse that specifically pointed out three anti-truck bomb barriers.
The case against Turner was originally filed in Chicago federal court -- in the courthouse where the three threatened judges sit -- and assigned to Judge Walter, a visiting judge from Shreveport, La.
Walter granted a defense motion to transfer the case to Brooklyn, and then came along to hear it.United States v. Turner, 09 CR 542, is the only case the judge will hear while in Brooklyn.
Appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1985, Walter took senior status in 2001. He is perhaps best known for participating in a 12-judge advisory panel that went to Iraq in 2003 to assess its judiciary.
In Brooklyn, Walter has shown little patience for those who threaten his estimated five-to-seven-day trial schedule. In addition to his strictly enforced time limit for opening arguments, he ordered one potential juror to sit in the audience throughout the trial for failing to tell the judge that he did not think he could be impartial until after he had been seated and causing a one-day delay.
On Wednesday, that ex-juror sat in the second row and seemed to be confused about what had transpired, telling reporters he believed he was not being punished but was in fact still a member of the jury. Walter released him after lunch.
The trial provides the possibility of several newsworthy twists.
To support Turner's claim that his blog entries were made as part of an undercover FBI operation to root out violent radicals, Turner will attempt to call on several high-ranking federal officials to substantiate his claim.
According to the Bergen County Record, Turner has already subpoenaed New Jersey Governor-elect Christopher Christie, who served as U.S. Attorney for New Jersey when Turner served as an informant. Turner claims Christie issued a letter stating that Turner would not be prosecuted for any statements he made as an informant.
A spokesman for Christie has confirmed the subpoena. In an interview with the Associated Press on Monday, Christie declined to discuss "any advice I gave as U.S. Attorney regarding prosecutions."
There is also the possibility the government will call as witnesses the three threatened judges, though the witness lists remain under seal.
The government began its case Wednesday afternoon. Turner faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
