There's no way the ground needed that much time to recover, even accounting for BTBATB's inflated attendance projections, and the slovenliness of its attendees. Furthermore, venue blackout dates are set far in advance, and well known to everyone who works there. Booking an event on one would be a major institutional error.

I suspect the Stanhope ground simply didn't want BTBATB's business, and this explanation is just a polite way of brushing that off.
I concur, strong smell of bullshit in that reply. They discovered what BTBATB's was about by whatever means and simply did not want their business. If people were phoning up passing on info about the group, i would want no part of that. Yes they may be rotten to the core with their objectives and their never pay anything advice but at the end of the day they were holding a piss-up in a field, and while they are doing that, somebody was getting a rest from the bad advice and Nadine got a break from instantly banning people for asking the wrong questions.

And who would want the business of an organization whose sole purpose is not paying for services they've received?

They had paid the deposit, the balance i believe was due the day the event began. For once i actually think that would have been paid. Their were enough questions asked from within about where the sticker and t-shirt money was going. The people who asked were in the main banned, but the short of money members of that group would not have forgotten the questions or answers. They would have bought a barrel load of trouble from within if they had not paid.

I could probably have a dig around and find out if there was another reason ... I live quite close and know a few locals

I mean seriously. Can you imagine "driving through the night" just to get to a camp site of 30 odd of the scruffiest tramps in England?

Sounds like a barrel of laughs. The bailiff industry must be quaking in their boots.

I would suspect that the assumed reason for cancellation is most likely correct, I would suspect that they got enough calls, or someone looked up the group and decided they didn't need the headache or more possibly the liability. I'm still having a hard time believing they came up with the money for the rental and the liability insurance.

From what i saw the bit of paper that surfaced informing whoever it was of the event, the one that showed they were expecting up to 350 people, said they had liability insurance. As somebody ponted out on Faceache though, it did not actually prove they had. The only money we know changed hands was the deposit which they got back.

Uh-oh guys, BTB has really stuck it us this time - they successfully rented a field! Never mind that they rented a field before and had that reservation cancelled. Or that renting a meeting space is not a Sisyphean task that warrants gloating.

And they were so proud of that picture of 20 people in a bog with no entertainment or facilities in sight. The top reported story was about pushing stuck cars out of mud, yet Chrissy Morris was mugging like he'd personally won the Champions League.

And it's consistent with their attitude about court cases, where everything is a victory no matter how badly they lose, and no matter how clearly they are told that they lost.

I wonder what it's like to go through life with such a low threshold for success. It must be nice, in a way.

you'd think if nothing else, they'd have gotten somebody's junior high kid out there with a karaoke machine.
