Seems they're still promoting it over at BTBAB:

And she's very nicely provided all the evidence I presume Lowell will need to get a fraud conviction?

I hope someone can save her before it's too late- here is some follow on information about fraudulent indemnity claims-

https://gocardless.com/direct-debit/guarantee/

And the specific act (2006 fraud act) cover those fraudulent claims-

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/35/contents

Dear oh, dear!
The first site confirms that "The customer's bank will generally accept the word of the payer, and if they do will immediately credit them with a full refund", and then explains that merchants have no realistic way to prevent clawback.

Fraud Act is practically irrelevant to this, because UK banks and Police have a cosy arrangement to divert such cases to the ActionFraud wastebin. They are not recorded as crimes or investigated, just added to a list so that victims can have a comforting placebo experience of "reporting it to the authorities". The banks don't want bad publicity, and prefer to recover their losses from higher charges to honest customers. The Police don't want the extra work, and the government likes the national crime figures to be kept low.

Anyone who's reading this and wondering about trying a clawback, my advice would be to go for it. There's very little chance of any problems resulting, and you will just be one of many thousands enjoying this windfall opportunity. Don't make unusually large clawbacks and don't boast about it on social media, you'll slip through the net even if the Police decide to make a few arrests. You can have a nice tax-free lump-sum in your bank account within a week. Treat yourself to a world cruise or buy a new car, the bank will just take a tiny amount extra from the other customers to cover that loss.

Sorry to be negative, but until I see these people being regularly caught and prosecuted I have no confidence that anyone in the finance industry or justice system cares two figs about Gemma Rose's dishonesty.

I don't see how the bank suffers any loss. Surely it is the bank's customer who loses is it not?

Yes, so in this case the debt owed to Lowell will revert to being unpaid.

And will have 0 negative consequences unless they try to go for CCJ, which given the general debt they purchase they would probably never do.

There is essentially 0 risk to yourself for doing this on older, sold on debts. Wouldn't ever get away with it for Council Tax, Car payments or recent debts.

There do seem to be occasions when sending a couple if the boys around with meat tenderisers is an exact and appropriate response.

I really can't see a debt collection agency letting someone get away with it.

No doubt it's already been forwarded to the legal department.

We have no idea from the post how much is involved here. It could have been £5 a month for the last 3 months.
