In the PLD FB chatter about Ollie, two comments stuck out for me:
Helen Miller wrote:I firmly believe Article 61 works but it's picking your battles.
You can believe what you want, Helen, but the belief of the courts is what counts.
Peter Farrow wrote:Even though you paid in duress you have cost them a lot of money,a lot more than it cost you in council tax so that's a win to us all in LR.
No, Peter. It hasn't cost them a bean. It has cost us, those of us who pay taxes. But it was worth it, for the entertainment value.

I suspect that all those notices sent to the magistrates' court did Ollie no favours at all. I'm sure the magistrates tried to be neutral, and not allow the deluge to influence them, but it would be difficult to ignore the personal threats made against court staff.

The fact that their cause flies in the face of history, logic, common sense and good old-fashioned reality is a bit of a stumbling block to be fair :snicker:

SANDY: That's your actual Latin.

In fact, it is possible to sum them up by reducing your post to:
they don't want to spend money

He replies to finish off the story in the comments. Because of his young family, you know the ones he didn't mind going through all this to date, he couldn't let himself go to jail, so he got a solicitor, borrowed the money and paid it. :violin:

Well, it bears resemblance to what sort of happened, but that is about all, and the Pillock hasn't learned a thing.

David is organising a whip-round for the Pinnocks.
Ollie was forced under duress to cough up or face 25 days in their stinking prison. We could not allow this and would have raised the monet to get him out.
Yeah, seems like a spiffing idea. So none of them will pay their council tax. They will all get threatened with prison. To avoid this fate, they will pay each others' tax bills. And then everyone will be happy: no-one gets sent down, the councils all get their tax, and the only extra cost will be for the liability orders and other court costs.

The PLDers are annoyed that the newspaper article says Ollie refused to pay council tax. So Robert White has emailed them to explain that he didn't refuse, merely witheld payment, and considers it unlawful to pay it.

Yeah, that's a clear distinction, Robert.

Exactly the same outcome as Jimmy One-Cell, who paid up to have his bankruptcy annulled - a bankruptcy that resulted from his boasting that he'd got away with not paying his council tax.

Perhaps Katie did hear the truth about A61 from real experts, anyone here want to make sure she has the real facts?

You have not heard the last about this
I get the impression these people have not progressed since the days they were in the school playground:
"I'll get my dad"
"So what? My dad's bigger than your dad"
"Yeah but....my dad's the heavyweight champion of the world...." etc etc
Bloody kids!

Southend Council has since revealed that Mr Pinnock has been released from prison after a family member paid off the council tax debt.
The bastard! He has knowingly funded terrorism and committed the capital crimes of treason, malfeasance and trigonometry. He must surely be expelled from the Lorfull Reblyion now. :haha:

I've just realised that Robert White only understands Cut & Paste as literal, material concepts. He has printed this email to paper, carefully cut out his email address with scissors, and then photographed or scanned it back to digital format. I wonder if he loads mp3 music on his ipod by copying it to C90 cassettes and then holding the device next to the speakers on playback?

Actually, it is worse, he cut up a Post It, but after sticking one side, realized it wouldn't stay put, and had to tape it down on the other side. I hope he realizes, he could have just used a dark pen, saved the Post It, Scissors, cutting and taping, or as pointed out, done it very easily digitally.

It's all going tits-up on PLD :

Legendary (and Failed) Eviction-Resister Russ McGarry is calling them out, inviting David Robinson to debate and defend his claims. Robinson is banning as fast as he can click the button, but the shields cannae take it, Captain!
