Well, to give the guy some credit, it's as effective as any other Freeman tactic.
There is also this on him;

I was in Penzance pubbing in 2013. A couple of fantastic ancient pubs there, the Admiral Benbow and the Turk's Head. Both well worth a visit. I also had a beer in the Globe where, in 1937, Dylan Thomas and Caitlin Macnamara held their wedding reception. Wikepedia says of their marriage;
"Their relationship was defined by alcoholism and was mutually destructive."
They met in the Wheatsheaf pub in London. I've been there too, been to a lot of pubs. I plan to end my Dylan Thomas journey by having a beer at the White Horse Tavern in Greenwich Village, New York where he purportedly had his last drink before dying.

Maybe he was trying to come up with a new definition for "understanding".

I suspect there's a sad story of mental decline behind this.
Our hero seems to be a decent clean-cut type (https://twitter.com/Jangdom) and he has been involved in something worthy not long ago. There's even a photo of him in a suit shaking hands with Prince Charles, our eternal heir to the throne (http://preview.tinyurl.com/l6yh5hj)
He appears to have a degree of wry insight into his situation -
Goraya wrote to The Cornishman after the hearing, attaching a photograph of himself shaking hands with Prince Charles several years ago at a hospital in London, and saying he supported the Queen's legal system and the Divine right of Royal rule. He added: "Why the divine is asking me to be the Penzance village idiot I do not know .... but that is what is being asked of me currently."

I'm guessing alcoholism or some kind of breakdown. Hopefully someone will provide him with care and support before the FMOTL & GOOFys get hold of him.
