We have painstakingly catalogue hundreds of these letters, which have come from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and many other countries. Lately, they even purport to come from distressed U.S. companies such as Enron. The idea is always the same: Somebody has a bunch of cash, and they need your help to move it. The problem is, they need just a little money up front to get the deal done, and their getting that little bit of money is the scam.
